By: Nolan Anselmi.
(Feburary 12, 1809 - April 15, 1865)
Abraham Lincoln was one of the best presidents of the United States. Being the 16th president to run our beloved country, he had a big role on unionizing our country. He emancipated slaves giving them freedom saying all men are created equally. And he also held our nation together as a whole, protecting us from the U.S Civil War. But unfortunately, we lost one of the best presidents we've ever had during the time we needed him most. Abraham witnessed slave trading in New Orleans one time in his life, and his father, Thomas Lincoln, always talked to Abraham about how he was against slavery. Abraham witnessing slave trade was said to be one of the biggest impacts on his life, turning the world around into his own hands.
Mr. Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 grew up in a small log cabin in the rural area of Hardin County in his home state, Kentucky. At around the age on 7 years old, Abraham moved to an area that is presently known as Spencer County in the state of Indiana. At around age 12, Abrahams mother, Nancy, had died from a sickness cause by milk back then. Following his mother's death, his dad soon married a woman known by the name of Sarah Bush Johnson. Abraham seemed to become fondly attached to her, seeing her as a new mother figure. She also became attached to him. Abraham also was very interested in always "boosting" his knowledge. Although he only had 18 months total of school throughout his childhood, Abraham was always taking books from people who lived near him. His father always thought he would take books to read just to get away from the labor his father wanted him to do. But this was not true, Abraham was very skilled with the axe and chopping wood.
In 1830, at the age on 21, Abraham and his family moved again to Illinois. Abraham began to help his father doing field word. They were clearing land area for planting crops, and used the logs they cut down to help his father build a log cabin. And toward the end of that year of Abraham helping his father, he started his own adventure into the real world, tackling life and putting it into his own hands. Abraham was the greatest president to take this country into their hands. He took his life into his old hands, having many hard bumps in the road over his course of life, but he followed his plan for life in the right direction, and achieved greatness.
Fun Fact: Lincoln was the first president to sport a beard while serving in office.
